Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Associate Positions in Structural Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

Three Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Associate positions are now available in the Department of Civil and Structural Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The successful applicants will work in the Emerging Structural Materials and Systems (ESMS) Research Group (http://www.cse.polyu.edu.hk/~cejgt/) led by Prof. Jin-Guang Teng and Dr. Jian-Guo Dai on the following three topics respectively: (1) Durability of FRP-strengthened reinforced concrete (RC) structures under combined thermal and moisture cycling; (2) Debonding in FRP-strengthened RC beams (3) Performance-based seismic assessment and retrofit of concrete structures. Initial appointments will be for 6 months, but these appointments are renewable subjected to mutual agreement.


Applicants should possess the following qualifications/attributes:
(a) A PhD degree from a reputable university in a closely related area;
(b) A strong interest in pursuing an academic/research career; and
(c) A good understanding of the behavior and analysis of concrete structures;
(d) A strong track record in experimental work and/or theoretical/numerical modeling.

Applicants with relevant research experience will be given preference. Research publications will be an important criterion for assessing the research experience and achievement of an applicant. Applicants should state their expected salary in the application. The starting salary for a Postdoctoral Fellow is HK$19,000 per month while the starting salary for a Research Associate is HK$14,000 per month.
